Civil Aircraft of Yesteryear

This book by Kenneth Munson is an excellent source for photographs of rare and unusual aircraft.  This small volume packs a lot of pictures between its covers.  The 122 pages are filled with hundreds of photos of planes famous and not-so-famous.  There is no logic or particular order to the presentation, but there is an index:

The result is a pleasing book which can be both enjoyed as a nostalgic meander through the period, and as a valuable reference tool.  Of special interest are the many cockpit and aircraft interior photos.

Kenneth Munson's works have served as the inspiration for a generation of scale modelers.  His books, usually illustrated by world-reknowned aviation artist, John Wood, are compact collections targetted at specific aircraft types and periods.  A sample list of his books related to the Golden Age is available HERE.
